Finding An Abortion In The Gorge

Where is the closest abortion clinic to the Gorge?

Our closest abortion options require traveling to clinics in Portland, Vancouver, or Yakima, or ordering abortion medication via a telemedicine appointment from home.

There are no abortion clinics in the Gorge, and none of the healthcare providers here do abortions. A local Google search can be misleading, and bring up fake clinics or healthcare facilities that do not do abortions.

If you live in Hood River, The Dalles, Mosier, Stevenson, Underwood, Carson, White Salmon, Klickitat, Bingen, Cascade Locks or anywhere else in the Columbia River Gorge, you can make a telemedicine online appointment for abortion pills, or find the closest clinic with open appointments in Portland, Vancouver, Yakima, or elsewhere.

What is a fake abortion clinic?

Crisis pregnancy centers (also called CPCs or fake clinics) are clinics or mobile vans that look like real health centers, but they have a shady, harmful agenda: to scare, shame, or pressure you out of getting an abortion, and to tell lies about abortion, birth control, and sexual health.

Often, they do not have any doctors or other licensed medical staff.

The Gorge has several fake clinics, but no real abortion clinics.

The Hope Medical Clinics in Hood River & the Dalles are CPCs and do NOT provide abortions, birth control, or STD/STI testing or treatment.

How do I get an abortion if I’m under 18?

You can get an abortion in Oregon or Washington no matter your age, and there are no parental consent or parental notification laws.

Some Gorge high schools have a student health center that can provide you with support like a pregnancy test, and help finding the right options for you. You do not need to be a student at that high school to make an appointment.

How much does an abortion cost?

How much an abortion costs can depend on how many weeks pregnant you are, type of abortion, extra medications, etc. In our experience, an abortion can cost anywhere from $150 on the low end, like abortion pills, to $15,000 on the extremely high end, typically later abortions.

The average price for an abortion at 12 weeks LMP (last menstrual period) is $600. When you make your appointment, ask about pricing and if you can apply for help from an abortion fund.

How can I get help paying for my abortion?

In both Oregon and Washington states, both the state insurance program and your private insurance are required to cover the cost of an abortion. You can also contact these abortion funds for assistance, after you have made your appointment:
